Jeff Drazan founded Bertram Capital in 2006 and has served as the firm’s Managing Partner since its inception. Under his leadership, Bertram has experienced significant growth, scaling from an inaugural fund of $250 million in LP commitments to $1.6 billion in its fifth and most recent fund. The firm also successfully launched its first small-cap strategy fund, Ignite, which closed with $260 million in LP commitments—marking a strategic expansion into growth-stage investing. Today, Bertram’s team of approximately 60 professionals operates with a differentiated model that includes an in-house, full-service digital agency focused on driving digital transformation across its portfolio companies. Jeff serves as Chairman of most of Bertram’s portfolio companies, playing an active role in guiding both the businesses and the firm to a leadership position in the middle market. Before founding Bertram, Jeff was a Managing Director of Sierra Ventures, a Menlo Park, CA-based venture capital firm. During his venture career, Jeff served as a Director of Centex Telemanagement (CNTX – acquired by MFS), Stratacom (STRM – acquired by Cisco), On Assignment (ASGN), Micromuse (MUSE – acquired by IBM), ConvergeNet (acquired by Dell), Combinet (acquired by Cisco), Quinta (acquired by Seagate), ParAcer (acquired by Stratos Lightwave), FrontBridge (acquired by MicroSoft), Sychip (acquired by Murata), Micro Power (acquired by Westin Presidio), American Fiber Systems (acquired by Vayo), Valere Power (acquired by Eltek – ELTK.NO), Theravance (THRX) and Digital Generation Systems (DGIT). Prior to Sierra, Jeff served in a variety of operations and R&D management positions at both AT&T and Bell Laboratories. Jeff received an Engineering degree from Princeton University and an MBA from NYU – Stern.
